My Brother, SIL and nephews came into town for the weekend, It was so fun to see AJ, it has been since July. For those of you who have been around since I started the blog, AJ is doing teriffic! He is through with Surgeries -- they think. Still having some problems with the good ole intestines, but, doing really great! Developmentally he is right on track and even walked a little for us this weeked:) It was fun to see them and I think we will go to SLC and visit them this summer!

Knitting wise, not much! I finished 1 Princess mitt and casted on for the other, using some yummy black cashmere for them and can't stop playing with the first one I knit, so soft, fluffy, creamy, warm, I could go on.

Pictures to come, lots on the camera, I am just being to lazy to put them on the computer:)

a Productive Day

Yesterday, and, Today I was feeling very least knitting wise:) I finished the KAL for my Monthly Dishcloths Yahoo Group. Very fun, I have never done an illusion cloth before:) I also started the sleeves for the Mystery Jacket KAL! They are so pretty, I am about 1/2 way done and should finish them tomorrow! Then, what shall I do?? I have so many things I want to knit and cannot decide:)

I am super excited today too! We had a new library open in Boise this week! This has been a long long time in coming, we only had 1 big library and a store front in the mall for as long as I have lived here -- about 19 years this week actually, wow, when I just figured that out, eek, I have been here a long time. In the past 19 years I think our city has quadrupled in size:) And, we have not had any new libraries for a looooooong time! So, anyway, they have opened two new branch libraries in the past few months and in a few months will be breaking ground for a big library! I am most excited about the big library, not only is is less than a mile from my house, but, we have been staring at the empty lot for 4 years, knowing a library would be built there. just not when! The newest branch location is right by where Anders has Karate, so now, Hannah and I will have somewhere to go and do something fun while Anders is busy! I am also thinking about starting a knitting group at this location on Wednesdays -- I would love to meet some other local knitters!

The sweater that never finished!

Yeah it is finally done, will it ever get worn? I don't think so, at least for a while! I can't stand to look at it anymore:)

Not Much at all

Not much is going on here at all! I have been steadily working on the arms for Larry's Sweater, about 1/2 done with the second arm! Can't wait until it is finished:) I got clue 7 for the Mystery Jacket KAL, but I will start it when I am done with Larry's Arms:) Yesterday we had a fun Easter! I was nice for the first time in a couple of years, so we actually had an outdoor easter egg hunt! That was a blast! Then my parents came over for dinner. I made my first Easter Dinner! What fun! I have decided I love to cook -- as long as it is not the same old stuff all the time:) My poor kids must think they are getting experimented on all the time:) Hannah helped me with Dinner! She sliced the strawberries for the Strawberry Shortcake and she made place cards for the table! That was fun for her, she loves to be creative:) I wonder where she gets it!?!?

On a side note, those of you that remember my "bad mom" worries, if you notice the place card that says mama -- Hannah put a sticker that says fabulous on it! I guess I was worried for nothing:)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

Yeah, almost finished!

It is getting super exciting, I finished clue 6 of the Mystery Jacket KAL! It was supposed to be a slip stitch color piece, I am only using one color for the jacket so mine is just a beautiful texture piece. I am so glad that the next clue is the last clue, it comes at a great time too! I will be finished next week -- hopefully -- and will be able to get it to my Mother in Law! She just sent the check to pay for the kids school tuition this week, so what a great thank you gift:)

The only thing I am worried about -- I still have 6 skeins of the yarn left, we started with 10! EEK! Hopefully I am not using all 6 on the last clue, it would take forever to knit.

In Other news, Larry's sweater is almost done too! I started the sleeves last night and should finish those lickety split:) Now, there is a small, or should I say too big, problem with the sweater. When I started knitting it I had not paid much attention to the measurements of the sizes, just picked the XL size and started knitting. Now that the body of the sweater is done, it is a little big, hopefully he can still wear it, if not, it fits me! So my question about this is, is it normal for the XL size to have a measurement of 54" for the chest? Most of the other patterns I have, 54" would be 3x or 4x.

A Busy Weekend

This weekend was super duper busy, but super great! We got a lot accomplished. First and foremost, they most exciting thing, the rafters are up on the add on! YEAH!!!
In other news, I finished Hannah's socks! She will be so excited when she gets home from school today:) I think she thinks I can knit faster than the speed of light! About 5 miniutes after I casted on for the 1st sock, she was asking if they were done yet:)

I also completed clue #5 for the Mystery Jacket KAL! It was a lace piece for the upper right back of the Jacket. The next clue is waiting for me to start it and then only 1 clue left:)

I also went scrapbooking on Saturday night! It has been a while since I have scrapbooked, the last thing I completed was for my In-laws! I made some cute pages about Anders and Hannah!

This is about Anders first loose tooth -- the pics are from last winter! I have gotten a little behind!

Diego (the Bear) Had his 93rd Birthday Party!

Anders and his Favorite Color -- GREEN:)

Hannah, just being Hannah!

Have a wonderful day!!!

This weekend....

.... I learned to knit from a chart! I saw some Jacobean Socks on Kerry's Blog and fell in love with them! I got the pattern and wanted to knit them so bad that when I realized the pattern was in chart for, I said, sure why not! This is something I have on my list to learn. I do have to say -- if you have never knitted from a chart before and it is confusing to you -- try this pattern, it is super easy! I was able to do it while sick this weekend, and the sock looks pretty good! I am knitting these socks in the sparkly sock yarn I have! The good news, I should have enough of this yarn to make this pair for me and a little pair for Hannah -- she has been bugging me to make her some socks!

I have a confession....

I have a deep dark secret, I have NEVER made a pom pom before! I know, WOW! How have I made it this far in life without making a pom pom? Well, today was the day to mark that off my checklist of things to learn. I said to myself, "How hard can it be! It is just a puff of yarn, I can make magic with yarn!" (as you can see sometimes my EGO is a little big). Anyways, I found the instructions and happily set about making a pom pom and ended up with little bits of hot pink yarn all over the couch, my clothes and the floor. So I found new directions, tried those and had the same results. I figured that I was having a hard time holding the yarn all in the pom pom area, my hands were cramping at this point from holding the yarn way too tight while trying to cut it. So I had an lightbulb moment -- this is what I came up with:

Ingenious, no? yeah for Binder clips! After a bunch of maneuvering, I ended up with this:

A beautiful Hot Pink Pom Pom for the top of my beautiful Snowball Hat. The pom pom is not quite the size I would like, but, I am not going to make another one! Ugh! pom pom's are now on my list of things I have done, but I may never make another one, except Hannah was running around the house with is saying "I want Pom Pom's!!"

I love this hat, and I think Katrina will too! I did steal an Idea from someone else though, I was reading a blog a fellow knitter writes and her husband models her knitwear for her! What a wonderful idea, it is super difficult to take a picture of yourself wearing a hat, so Larry is making his modeling debut! Before we know it, he will be a finalist on America's Next Top Model or that other one about supermodels on Bravo!

Some FO's!

I have been a knitting fool recently, something about new yarn makes me want to knit faster --- and more --- so I can use the new yarn!

I finished a few scarves, one is for a friend and the other to destash a little more!

This one is knit with Patons Pebbles -- I got it on clearance for .97 a skein! So, the scarf used 2 skeins, I knit 12 stitches in a 1x1 rib pattern on size 13 needles!

This one is knit with some Moda Dea Kickx, for a novelty yarn, this was great to work with and so super silky feeling! I casted on 10 with size 19 needles and just knit the whole scarf!

I also finished clue #4 of the Mystery Jacket KAL. It had 2 different options this week and I chose the advanced option! I love how it turned out, the reverse stockinette is still a little loose, but, it works well and looks good:)

I think I might cast on the pretty sparkly yarn for some socks tonight. I also want to try magic loop, not a fan of the DPN's!

Clue #3

So, Clue number 3 is finished and blocked! The pictures didn't turn out so well, it does not look that holey in person:) I do have to say it is more loose than my other pieces, I did that on some advice of others knitting the same piece!

This week we got another cable piece! This one had an advanced or beginner option! I chose the advanced and it is advanced! I am loving every minute of the knitting! And, it is turning out beautifully!
