Netflix

Ok, so I need to rave about netflix for a few minutes. This idea is the best since sliced bread. You get movies, watch them and then send them back to get more. Mail time is super fast (i usually have new movies in 2 days). But, now, they offer view now. you can watch movies straight from their website. how cool is that???

so anyway, if you have netflix already, cool, become my netflix friend http://www.netflix.com/BeMyFriend/PqelhWqtduzurUmQ2Xvx
(we can share ratings etc for movies) If you don't have netflix, get it at www.netflix.com they always have a free trial going on for you to try out the service!

Have a wonderful weekend, we will be watching Happy Feet for the 1000th time this weekend. That is the other cool thing about netflix, if your kids really like a movie, you don't have to return it in 3 days, you can keep it as long as you want!!!

Zucchini

I decided to make zucchini bread today and I was grating up all this zucchini and then I got out the cookbook and realized that I didn't need as much zucchini as I thought, so I have made 5 loafs of Zucchini Bread! I fuond this really great recipe in the process, so I thought I would share it with all of you. It is from a cookbook I found long ago called "Zucchini Time" FYI -- I make mine without the nuts.

Zucchini Bread

3 Eggs
3 tsp. of Vanilla
3 cups of grated zucchini
1 cup cooking oil
2 cups brown sugar
1 tsp. soda
3 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. Cinnamon
3 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 cup pecan pieces

Beat eggs, oil, sugar, zucchini and vanilla. Mix Lightly but well. Sift together flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add dry mixture a little at a time to the wet mixture until blended. The turn in nuts. Bake in 2 greased loaf pans at 325 for 1 hour. Cool for 10 minutes.

Hope you all get a chance to enjoy some zucchini bread!

Kindergarten Fun

Today was so fun, I got to go to Anders Class and help with a pizza party that the Kindergartners won since they sold the most for the schools fundraiser! The kids were so funny, they got excited because they could have seconds. I thought that was really cute. After Hannah was out of her preschool class, she got to come to the party too. She thought it was pretty fun and now she can't wait to start Kindergarten next year!

We also started getting ready to pour the concrete in the back yard and rebuild the patio roof. Just one step in getting the sun room added onto the back of the house which means we are one step closer to having a daycare room and an office/scrapbook room. I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited and can't wait until it is all done. I think that I want it to magically appear overnight without all the work, but it will be nice when it is all done :)

Another busy Weekend

We were home last night and the kids and I had a date, we ordered pizza from Flying Pie and watched Polly World while we ate Root Bear Floats! The kids had a blast, I fell asleep during the movie!

Today Anders and Hannah each have a birthday party to go to, luckily they are not at the same time :) Hannah's is at Tumble Time, we have never been there for a party so it should be fun and new!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

Life is back to normal again,

At least for a little bit our life is back to normal, Anders fundraiser for school is finally over! With exciting results -- we raised over $8,000! Yeah!!!!! No more weeks of never being home, never spending family time, never having a clean house!

Now that the fundraiser is over we have been having fun, at least for today! Anders is insisting that his bear Diego is having his 71st birthday today and we took Diego out to a birthday lunch and then went shopping for summer clothes for Anders and Hannah. It has been a pretty fun and relaxing day so far.

Last night for the fundraiser we curled Hannah's new short hair! I still can't get used to the hair cut she gave herself, but it looked super cute all curled up!

OK, so a questions for all and will probably show my ignorance in all things Karate. At Anders Dojo on Wednesday he received 3 black stripes around his belt (he has a white belt). What does this mean?? I am sure that it has something to do with ranking etc. But I am not sure, Anders just started in Karate a few months ago and we are all still learning a lot!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend and I promise I will eventually get up pictures of what this blog was supposed to be about -- scrapbook pages and card ideas etc. Until I manage to have time for that, check out www.splitcoaststampers.com! They have some great ideas and a newsletter with challenges every week.

What has happened in the last 10 years????

I know that is the burning question on everyone's mind right now, so, life has been pretty busy.

Right after High School I went to BSU for a few years and I decided that I was sick of school and stopped going. I was married a year after we graduated and that was another deciding factor in stopping college.

After I left BSU I worked at Flying Pie Pizzaria for a few years and then I was a teller at a bank for awhile. I had my son Anders in 2000, the same year my brother graduated from Centennial. I continued to work and in 2002 had my daughter Hannah.

After I had Hannah I stayed home and helped my dad with the accounting in his business for a few years. After he closed his business I started to substitute at my kids preschool and I really loved working with kids. So major career field change, I became a preschool teacher and did that for some time and this summer I opened up my own childcare, which is a ton of fun!

I also have started back at BSU to finish my degree, with a changed major to Childcare and Development.

I think that is about it, not to many other adventures. We go to Calvary Chapel, we still live in Boise, my parents are still here, still living right behind Centennials lacrosse field (it used to be the soccer field!) My brother, Andy, moved to SLC and got married. He and his wife just had a baby in February.

Happy Easter

Easter was great this year, it started with rain like normal, but, this afternoon and evening were so beautiful. Anders and Hannah had a ton o fun hiding and finding easter eggs over and over! We went to my parents house and had a bbq with them and my aunt, cousins and my cousins boyfriend! So much fun, and the kids looked adorable in their Easter outfits.

Church was fun this morning too, Anders got to be in the childrens bell choir and he had a blast.

All in all if was a great day, one couldn't ask for better as we remember the sacrifice that Jesus made and all that he gave on a great Resurrection Sunday!

My kids

This is my most favorite picture of Anders and Hannah -- they are so cute and look like they actually like each other! :)

Friday night and some good music

The kids and I went out tonight. First we sold raffle tickets at Red Letter and then stayed and listened to Jeff Anderson live, pretty good sound and we had fun!

The kids can't wait for Easter and neither can I, this will be the first Easter it has not rained in several years, which means the first non-rushed outside Easter Egg Hunt for the kids!

The daycare is going great and we are having so much fun, even with the terrible 2's approaching for the boys that we watch! Hannah is having baby fever, even with 3 babies in the house all day long, she is still going gaga over babies we see at church and at the store, movies, waiting in line somewhere, pretty much any baby she sees sends her into fits of hysteria. It is pretty funny watching her.

Life is pretty good right now, even though it is busy. The kids and I have been gone every night this week with school, church, karate etc!

Truley Mundane things

So I was thinking today about how mundane life can be, but then I was thinking about all the things I have done this week and how busy it is. So my question is, can life be both mundane and busy?

The Olsen's in a Nutshell

This is the Olsen Family Blog. The Olsen's are a pretty fun Family!

First there is Larry, he is the dad, husband, bread winner. He runs with the Hash House Harriers and works at The Idaho Statesman. For the first time in several years he is not running the Table of Temptation for Robie Creek. After being a volunteer last year at the Sawtooth Relay, he is running in it this year.

Now for Tami, she is the mom, wife, nurturer. She has a lot of fun scrapbooking and doing other crafty things. She works at home, running an in-home childcare and spending time with the kids. She is also in the HHH and has run in a couple of races -- taking 3rd in her age group at one. She is super involved at Calvary Chapel with PTO, Awanas and bible studies.

Anders is the first born, this active Kindergardner is a bundle of energy and enthuasiam. He enjoys school at CCS, Karate, Chess, reading and playing outside.

Hannah, the baby of the family is in Preschool and can't wait to start Kindergarten next year. She loves to dance, make believe, draw and be creative.
